Scott has over twenty-five years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining CapTrust, he spent over two decades at Smith Barney-Citigroup.

In 2006, Scott was named the director of the Smith-Barney Wealth Planning Centers based in New York, leading a team of approximately 90 professionals including estate planning attorneys, CPAs, and business valuation specialists.

Scott began his career in the financial services industry as a financial consultant at Smith-Barney in 1986 where he worked with high net worth individuals and small businesses. His subsequent experience includes managing the Sarasota, FL and Tucson, AZ private client offices for the firm. In 1999, he moved to Houston, TX to manage Smith-Barney's downtown office that included institutional equity and fixed income, international focus, high net worth private clients, and corporate services business.

Scott is a graduate of Stetson University, where he has served on the alumni board for over a decade. Additionally, he is the past president of the Greater Houston chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He also served as the chairperson of the fundraising effort for the Challenger Learning Center children's math and science program based at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, AZ.
