Matt is a native Floridian and graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in Finance and Economics. After college, he spent two years employed as a registered representative for the Tampa office of T. Rowe Price & Associates where he assisted clients with investment strategies for mutual funds and retirement plans.

Matt joined CapTrust Advisors in 1999 as a performance analyst. He was promoted to Director of Analytics in 2004 and currently oversees a department of nine financial analysts based in three CapTrust office locations: Tampa and Miami, Florida and Richmond, Virginia.

The Analytics Department is divided into three specialized areas: Performance Analysis, Investment Analysis and Research and Retirement Plan Analysis. Under Matt’s direction, the analysts are responsible for Performance Measurement, Manager Searches, Manager Due Diligence and Manager Research. In addition, Matt’s department conducts Allocation Research and Monte Carlo studies on Client accounts.

On the Retirement side of the Analytics Department, Matt’s analysts work with CapTrust Consultants to supply Plan Provider and Mutual Fund Research. Matt and the retirement analysts have in-depth knowledge of ERISA and all requirements.

CapTrust Analytics Department generates detailed quarterly reports for CapTrust’s clients. It engages in research and reporting for the proposals initiated by fifteen investment consultants and supports the research requirements of the CapTrust Investment Research Committee, of which Matt is a member.

In 2005, Matt joined the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute. He has been awarded the CFA designation.
