John serves as an investment consultant for corporations, municipal authorities, hospitals and not-for-profit corporations. He has over thirty-one years experience with separate account and fund due diligence, vendor fee analysis, asset allocation strategies, performance monitoring and measurement, guaranteed contract placements, manager searches and retirement plan vendor searches.
Prior to joining CapTrust Advisors, John was a principal and senior consultant for Raulin, Inc., an investment consulting firm, the chief executive officer of Invesmart of Pittsburgh, Inc., a national retirement financial services firm and the president and founder of Griffith & Bennett Financial Services, Inc. an investment consulting and advisory firm.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Pennsylvania State University and a Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law (non-practicing). His professional achievements include the Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) designation through the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA®). He has passed the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) course through the Center for Fiduciary Studies, which is associated with the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, where he received formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility. John completed the PLANSPONSOR Retirement Professional (PRP) program offered through the PLANSPONSOR Institute. John has also earned a designation as a Certified Public Pension Trustee (CPPT) in the program offered by the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association.
His past and present professional associations include the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations, Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA®), The Retirement Administrators and Designers of America (RADA®), the Florida West Coast Employee Benefits Council and the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association.
